Tarka Four is our new fantastic ‘session lager’ and follows in the footsteps of Tarka Pure which we launched nearly 3 years ago.
At 4% in strength it’s a lager made with love here in Devon and designed to be drank whilst chatting with friends in the pub – the clean and crisp flavour gives way to a long dry finish. For those lager drinkers who are happy to break the mould and ‘go local’ it will make a refreshing change to its mass produced international competitors on bars across the South West. Keep an eye for the blue and white clip – you’ll find it in pubs, clubs, music venues and other convivial places.
With its launch we hope we can welcome more people into the world of Otter and the ethical and environmental way in which we brew our beers. If what’s in the glass is half decent, we think, who wouldn’t chose a beer brewed down the road over a global brand that just happens to be there and that we all drink because there has never been a different option.
As with our entire range it’s a completely natural product: just pure Devon spring water, different types of hops, barley malt and yeast. It is cold fermented for two weeks and then matured for a further two before kegging.
Adrian Tierney-Jones, Beer Writer of the Year, paid us a visit recently: “The first thing I noted was the strikingly deep gold colour of the beer, which made it such a handsome beast. Time to taste. There was a firm mouth feel, a refreshing feel of palate excitement, hints of lemon and an appetisingly dry finish…. otterly delicious in other words.”
Look out for Tarka Four from the beginning of March. It will also feature prominently at the upcoming Exeter Festival of Food and Drink (5th – 7th May) where the brewery will be sponsoring all of the ‘Beats & Eats’ evening entertainment.
