CELEBRATING 25 YEARS!
now been a quarter of a century since Mary Ann and David (Mum & Dad) set up Otter from very humble beginnings
in the middle barn. A lot has happened in that time but we're still proudly family run
and today employ 35 people.
This is the team that produces and delivers our core range of six ales (plus the
seasonals and Tarka) to a whole host of pubs and restaurants
across the South West and into selected outlets in London and Hampshire. That
middle barn is now the room where we all gather every day for a communal lunch.
As production has increased year on year, the nineteen acre site has evolved to
house a state-of-the-art stainless steel brewhouse, the UK's first underground carbon
busting eco cellar, a series of willow beds to naturally treat our waste water on-site and new kegging facilities for our first lager.
commitment to local grass roots sport has never been stronger with support now for Exmouth and Honiton Rugby Clubs, Devon County Cricket,
Exeter Racecourse, Lyme Bay Gig Club and Luppitt Football Club. We've also been a main
sponsor of the Exeter Chiefs for the last seven years,
supplying beer and providing half time entertainment with 'Derek' the Otter.
To help mark the Silver Anniversary celebrations a
party was organised at the brewery for landlords, suppliers and associates
followed two days later by a black tie Charity Ball attended by 340 guests. This
raised over £7,500 for three local charities; The Devon Air Ambulance,
Hospicecare and The Exeter Foundation.
