OTTER MILD TAKES GOLD

Otter Mild, our new seasonal brew, has just scooped Gold at the South West's biggest Beer Festival.

With a mind boggling 334 Westcountry beers to try, this three day event is always an absolute paradise for seasoned real ale drinkers. Infact this year some 4,000 turned out in force.

Now into its 18th year and organised by SIBA, all the action takes place in and around Tuckers Maltings in Newton Abbot - one of only three traditional floor Maltings left in the country.

Historically mild is a low gravity beer that was principally drunk in the Midlands and Northern England. Once sold in every pub, mild experienced a catastrophic fall in popularity after the 1960s and was in danger of disappearing completely.

Although this isn't the usual style of beer we would produce, as a family run brewery we feel exceptionally proud to have been able to help re-introduce it to the market, especially all the way down here in Devon.

Dad grew up drinking the stuff so this has been a bit of a pet project for him. To say he's over the moon would be putting it ‘mildly'! On the way home from the festival we also learned that Wetherspoons have just announced Otter Mild as their customer's second favourite beer in their annual ‘International Real Ale Festival.'

Welcome to the family Otter Mild!
