Bacon sandwiches and chat

It started years ago, for anyone who started work before 7am bacon sandwiches were on offer for breakfast. Today Neil was in mashing the brew, I suspect he was out of bed at 5.15am to start work at 6am.

As we were sitting munching, the chat went round to milk and the quantity we get through here. It then moved to the past, and Neil who is a great milk lover, started talking about cream on the top of the milk, how many kids today would enjoy that on their cereal! I remembered my Mum and the milk order, there was one gold top which we as children were not allowed to touch, only for grown ups! My Granny used to pour the cream off her gold top and keep it in a jug for afternoon tea!

I don't think I should enjoy tea with cream, but there you are, it's assign of the times, we're not used to fat rich foods nowadays. Patrick talks of staying with my Mum when a little boy, and her treat at breakfast was cornflakes with cream and sugar! Would you believe she has always been stick thin, and she eats her butter by the inch thick slice as well!

So Neil went back to work, I hope feeling better for his sandwich!
